After CDC and TUSD guidelines allow students to return to their schools, the GATE department we will be testing TUSD students K through 6th grade to determine student eligibility to receive gifted services in the TUSD GATE program for school year 2021-22.

Parents will be notified of GATE qualification by late February for elementary and late March for middle school. GATE testing in TUSD begins with universal screening in the 3rd grade. No form or application for participation in 3rd grade GATE testing is necessary. The Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT3) assesses cognitive abilities through nonverbal means and is used for initial testing. The NNAT3 is a 30 minute timed test with 48 items.
